  • According to the USPS website, a postcard can't be "taller" than 4 1/4" or longer than 6" or thicker than .016" (that's 1/62") to be eligible for the postcard rate, which as of Jan. 8, 2006, is 24 cents. Just in case you wondered, a bigger postcard needs a first class stamp (39 cents).
