i listen to a pretty healthy amount of both, but if i had to stick with one i suppose i'd choose punk and go crazy.

Well, I listen to both, and there are-- as with anything else-- different plusses to both. I think I can get into punk a lot easier, though, and I can actually categroize it quicker. I hate saying I listen to some band that I think is metal and someone else has to be like "Uh... no, they're nu-metal, dumbass. Learn the difference." So I suppose that is the one deciding factor that has me saying punk.

grindcore. it involves crust punk but has more of a metal side to it. the bad thing is the songs are short.

Punk. But only old-fashioned Punk like The Clash or Iggy Pop and The Stooges, I can only think of one or two contemporary Punk bands that I can stand. As for metal, the closest I ever get to actual metal is stuff like Marilyn Manson; music on the softer, more 'Gothic Acid-Trip' side of metal. Both genres have had some major problems in the last decade or so with people attaching their names to mindless feedback and screaming (And not the good kind of mindless feedback and screaming, either).

obviously metal!! the old punk is good..i don't dig the new punk at all!! i haven't heard a single new punk band that made me be like... WOW thats actually good!!
