  • Depends on who wins.
  • Theoretically, no. But in the lat three elections the third party vote has altered the election results.
  • No, at least, not in Australia. They can still get a few extra seats.
  • It's the voice of dissent. If you don't care for the two options and you want to make an impact, voice it by voting for none of the above. It's better than doing nothing. If nothing, you get to add to the statistics of those who didn't like the 2 main candidates.
  • The only thing the third party is really good for is catching the attention of the two main parties. When they see how many people voted for that party, even though it's still a tiny minority, they recognize it as a significant amount of voters. So, one of the parties adopts the third party's platform to gain those voters. That's how it's supposed to work, anyway.
  • No, as our current system works, the third party vote always "takes away" from one party and "gives" to another. Maybe someday it will be different.
  • When Gore and Bush first ran against each other I voted for Nader. It was my hope that there would be enough votes for 3rd party candidates that the two major parties would wake up to the fact they are almost identical, with no real issue differences. Unfortunately the 3rd party candidates went down the tubes and Democrats blamed us (those who voted for Nader, et al) for costing Gore the election. If Bloomberg runs as a 3rd party candidate we may see some life in the Independent arena...I hope so. I am sick and tired of the me-tooism found in the two major political parties. So, my vote goes to you if you want to vote for a 3rd party candidate. If enough of us do it we will be sending a genuine message.
  • No vote is a wasted vote. It is ridiculous that 2 parties dominate and it is to hard for a third party to even get on a ballot. This needs to be righted in the next election so if you vote third party I am with you.
  • No, it's the other way around. A vote for one of the two main parties is a wasted vote. :P
  • With our third party yes!
  • No vote is ever wasted. Every vote (supposedly) counts, unless you live in Florida. Seriously though, a vote is all most people have in society to voice their opinion.
  • No, it's not a wasted vote because, it sends a message to the two main parties that they are not infallible, that there is a possibility that their dominance will eventually fade. It helps to keep the 3rd parties on the ballot. If enough votes are cast, it becomes newsworthy which can help promote a 3rd party for future political races. It can also bring needed attention to otherwise ignored issues.
