1) It could be a very serious thing, for instance with your heart. I would consult a specialist, if I were you. 2) You could also have a look at this forum: "Chest pain is common in GERD and can be confused with heart problems. . Usually people who get bad chest pain get the heart checked out to be safe" http://forums.heartburn-help.com/showthread.php?t=3841 (GERD=Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) http://www.aboutgerd.org/ 3) "Sometimes the first sign you have of a deep vein thrombosis is very bad pain in the chest and shortness of breath. This is called a pulmonary embolus-or clot on the lung." http://www.24dr.com/reference/encyclopaedia/dvt.htm

Nate, I had similar symptoms. My chest hurt so bad I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was acid reflux. I have been taking medication for it for several years now and have not had chest pain. When you see a doctor, you might ask him if this is a possibility that this is what is happening to you. The fact that the pain happens after you eat is a good indicator of acid reflux. He can write you a prescription or you can try an over-the-counter medication. If it continues even with the medication, he can change the prescription or increase the dosage. Be advised that acid reflux can be very dangerous if not treated, as over the years it will wear away the lining of the esophagus and can become cancerous. Aside from eliminating the pain, medication can eliminate the risk of further damage. Best of luck to you and be sure you see a doctor. You will feel much better once you have this treated and it is quite simple to treat when caught this early.
