It can kill your worms. The heat from decomposition can cook them. The mold in most cases is just part of the decomposition cycle. Worms cannot eat raw garbage it must be acted on by decomposers. The byproduct from the mold is what the worms will eat. So leave the mold there it is ok. When the bin heats up air it out and turn the contents with a hand rake. You can cut doewn the heat by allowing the raw material to sit for a few days before placing it in the bin. Be sure to check the heat from time to time and if you notice problems turn the soil and let it sit exposed for a while then recover it. Also excessive mold can lower the pH of the bin this can be stablized with powdered garden lyme. Spread a little around from time to time don't overdo it though.
