  • I was working third shift on the 6th floor of a major hospital. One side of the hospital faced the fireworks, one room of it had the best view. Being on the 6th floor gave us an incredible view. The staff OKed the following with the patient who was in that room (we asked her first, of course): About 15 to 20 of us filed into the room throughout the eve to watch the fireworks. We did it with the patient's need for rest and privacy in mind so we did not stay long. Some of us were lucky enough to be in her room when the Millenium actually hit (we could get away from our work long enough). We had sparkling cider and cookies all around, including the patient (she was on a regular diet... had she not been, we would have found something else for her), and we all toasted it, including the patient. Other floors celebrated similar ways, if they had the time to spare, but they did not have the excellent view that the 6th floor provided. Then we went back to work and the patient went to sleep. Not a very exciting story, eh?
