Nope.
-
Nah..
-
Yes, but do give it up until you are done nursing, please! BTW, I do not know why you were downrated for your question, it is a good one.
-
yes because it could be vital to the knowledge, and birth of your child.
-
No, you don't need to. What you do need to do is STOP SMOKING IT WHILE YOU'RE PREGNANT AND NURSING YOU DOPEHEAD. Do what you want afterwards, but it WILL effect your child.
-
Yes, he/she needs to know right away. Your health and the health of your baby is of utmost importance. And you need to stop right away. But they still need to know just in case. Smoking pit and making babies can be a bad combination. Edit: How interesting to get -4 for telling someone they should care for their child's health, their child's development and future. Refute the medical literature on the effects of pot on a grownup but hardly anyone refutes the evidence that smoking and pot is dangerous to fetuses. I would never be so careless with someone else's life with my advice.
-
Give your baby up for adoption he/she will be much better off by the sound of it.
-
Should you TELL your OB you smoke pot? Oh my God....were you stoned when you got pregnant or when you wrote this question? Do you not understand anything you smoke your BABY smokes???? How selfish of you. You choose to smoke pot. Your baby doesn't get to make that choice. Assuming your child survives this pregnancy, please consider adoption. You are clearly NOT ready to parent anyone.
-
Stop the smoking while your pregnant. If your having a baby, you should stop altogether for a while. No reason to tell you OB, nothing he can do, and if he/she wants, you could have problems with not just them.
-
well yeah duh
-
well yeah Duh are you stupid or somthing? why are you smoking while your pregnate? my gosh
-
i cant beleive some people and how they can judge others,im 6 weeks pregnant myself and i smoke pot as well im trying to quit but its not easy there so much you read about it and nothing is a deffinate answer some say quit some say dont quit cold turkey cause you will stress the baby so what is some one that is not educated in that feild suppose to do??
-
A lot of people are going to talk shit.. But tests have shown that babies of parents that smoke bud tend to have higher IQ's... There is NO factual evidence to show that it either harms, or doesn't harm your unborn child. Either way... you should still let your doctor know :)
-
Put your unborn baby first!!!Stop smoking any thing. Smoking pot put my ex husband in a wheel chair he had a massive stroke because of it. You seriously risk your babys health do you really wana take that chance??I wish you the best of luck
-
email me and we can then talk ,
-
No. Let Darwin rule. Your genes should die out.
-
hey crimedog. People who smoke will never be as angry or hostile as you. The world would be such a better place with people like you gone. Dumbfuck. You can surely shit and fall back in it. Now that stick that in your fuckin pipe and smoke it. Dumb bitch.

There is no effect on pregnancy. A study done in Jamaica of pregnant women showed no significant effects on the babies. It should be noted that the average use in Jamaica has been estimated as 28 times the average use in the US. Prenatal Marijuana Exposure and Neonatal Outcomes in Jamaica: An Ethnographic Study http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/medical/can-babies.htm This is consistent with the results of every major government commission report on the subject in the last 100 years. There have been tens of millions of people who have smoked marijuana in the US over the last several decades, including what must certainly be millions of pregnant women. In addition, marijuana is used routinely as a food and medicine in other countries, by both children and pregnant women. There is simply no evidence of any associated epidemic of problems with babies.
-
I think you should. Doctors can tell you more about any potential problems. But I will warn you, if anything happens to your baby you will blame yourself. I had a miscarriage back when I was a heavy smoker and I spent years blaming myself for it even though I logically knew that it probably had nothing to do with it. Lay it down, it's only 9 months and it's not like it's addictive.
-
I'd recommend telling them so that they can be aware of it, but then forming your own opinion on whether you should change your habits by doing independent research and/or getting additional opinions. A lot of doctors have a great unfounded bias against marijuana, so there's a chance that your OB may advise you to quit "Just to be Safe". And that isn't a bad idea, but it also may not do significant harm to your baby if you don't quit. If you just want to play it on the safe side, by all means tell your OB and follow their advice. But if you actually want to know what the effects of continuing to smoke could be, and be able to make an informed decision, do so research on your own, and ideally, see if you can find a midwife to consult, because they tend to have a fair amount of knowledge of pregnancy, without the bias of a lot of conventional OBs.

how sad. im pregnant and i just looked up this question through google by typing in "im pregnant and i smoke pot." im 23 years old and was not planning on getting pregnant. i was scared to death when i found out and yes, i quit smoking ciggs, pot, taking my lexapro, and drinking coffee. right now im an emotional basket case because im trying to stop all those things at once and its even more disheartening that i looked on this page and saw all the negative comments. how horrible that people could be SO rude when someone is asking for advice. being pregnant can be scary so i think you should all look back at how you talked to someone who is pregnant and rethink your answers. that is a valid question so here is my answer: yes, tell your ob and quit. i know someone who smoked pot the whole time and her little boy is short while she and his dad are tall. he has asthma and always has to take breathing treatments and is in the hospital all the time. i believe this is due to smoking although there are not many clinical studies to prove it. honestly, i smoked pot to calm down my anxiety because im a really fast paced person so my brain is going a million miles an hour right now but if i can do it...you can do it. you just have to think of your baby. maybe google all the birth complications just to scare the crap out of yourself. i did. anyway good luck and dont let any of these JERKS get you down. im glad you asked the question. :) you'll be a great mom. just do right for your baby. you make all the choices for it right now. and if it has health problems when it gets older you'll regret it and blame yourself. and you'll be the one in the hospital with your little baby at 3am because he/she cant breathe. just think about it. now wasnt that a little nicer of a way to talk to someone whos pregnant? i hope the rest of you idiots are pregnant so you have a good excuse for the way you just talked to another human being who was ASKING FOR YOUR ADVICE. what a sad word.

Yes. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy may affect your baby's growth and the development of his nervous system. Studies have shown that children who were exposed to marijuana during pregnancy sometimes have problems focusing their attention and solving problems. Children of heavy pot users may also have problems with short-term memory, concentration, and judgment. (There's no evidence so far, however, that marijuana use during pregnancy causes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). One study even found that young children whose mothers smoked marijuana during pregnancy had a higher risk of leukemia than those whose mothers did not. What's more, there's no way to know if the pot you're smoking has been laced with other drugs (such as PCP) or contaminated with pesticides, which would put your baby at even higher risk. And using marijuana increases the chance that your baby will have birth defects if you're also drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. If you smoked pot before you realized you were pregnant, don't panic. The chance that your baby has been affected is very small. Still, it's important to be honest with your practitioner about your previous use of pot and other recreational drugs. She may want to run some extra tests to be sure your baby is developing normally.
-
Yeah, definitely tell somebody, just to be safe. And I personally smoke marijuana, so I have no biased. But you should definitely stop smoking ANYTHING during your pregnancy. And obviously drinking, too.
-
old post for this subject. Yes,you should tell them and expect the OB to jump your sh*t for still smoking it too.The fetus can't be expected to be healthy, the MOTHER needs to think about the new life she is destroying before her need to 'escape' or 'relax'

My girlfriend and I recently found out we're pregnant (didnt plan for this early in our lives) and during the past year or so we've been smoking weed, sometimes a little everyday after work. Now the plan was for when we got pregnant to have been off of this stuff for quite awhile before.. My girlfriend is a big worrier as far as causing problems with our child, and isn't sure if she should stop ENTIRELY right away, or if she should wean herself off the habit? If so does anyone know the best way/timeframe to do this in? We've heard the stress of withdrawal is worse than this substance in this case..? What should we do? Quitting isn't a problem we're both fine with giving it up, but how should we go about it?

-

-
the dr needs to know asap. and you should stop, that can really hurt the baby.
-
you need to stop smoking pot immediately, and tell your OB!
-
sure, you are in a confidential relationship. you already know you will be asked to stop smoking or consuming in any manner. I love these old questions. the kid is a toddler by now, if it was a real question. LOL.
-
hi, i have had same problem with smoking a stop..it take week or so, but after that you will not have any cravings(according to my experience)..just think about baby, you can still cary on with smoking after birth, just try not smoke now.. You should stop, even if you read many information that its not so "demaging"..not THC, but other chemical ingredience may be demaging an dkeepin mind..OFF STREET DRUGS ARE RARLY PURE, USSUALY MIXED WITH CHEMICALS TO MAKE THEM STRONGER..and this chemicals can really demage your little miracle..best luck!!!
-
Certainly. The more they know, the better care they can give. Also, you'll need to stop at least until after the baby is born and after you have finished breast feeding.
-
Don't worry, he knows. He sees babies born with cleft lips all the time.
-
I love marijuana. Love it. Now listen. DO NOT SMOKE POT while you are pregnant. I did and my daughter is bipolar and I know she may have not been born that way if I had a conscience and a brain back when I was pregnant 36 years ago. I just did not know that it could be harmful in any manner. It is still smoke, it alters consciousness and it has tars and toxins like anything one smokes. Please give it up for these precious months. I told you and if you ignore it now, it's on you for the rest of your life. Stop it.
-
No, don't give up smoking pot; abort your baby! It will only make your life a living hell.
-
Yes, and while you're at it, tell your local child welfare department, you thirsty-ass fiend.
-
Yes, you should be honest with your OB. It is always the right things that we do that seem the hardest. Do not fear you are not alone but our fears seem less once shared.
-
Yes and you have doctor-patient confidentiality covering you so... no worries.
-
You realize you have the right to confidentiality from your doctor? He can't run and tell the big, bad jackbooted boys in blue about your evil pot smoking habit.
-
umm... gosh, yaaaaaaaaaaaaah
-
Even if you dont, when they do all your blood test, not only do they test for diseases but drug use also. So, tell them or not, they will still know.
