  • I think that's a great idea! In fact, that's what I've been doing for the past two months and I've lost 23 lbs and SIX inches off my waist. If you want to lose weight and improve your overall health, low carb is the way to go. I was skeptical when my boyfriend asked me if I'd go on the Atkins diet with him (we'd both gained a lot of weight since our son was born), but now I've been converted. I've never felt better, even when I *was* thin.
  • i say, don't do it! the south beach diet seems like a much healthier (and balanced) way to lose weight. also, i've known 2 people who gained weight on the atkin's diet.

  • First, learn just a little about nutrition. The short term, and long term detriments that the Atkins Diet causes far outweigh the benefits. Much better to do it the healthier way, through a good diet, and exercise!
  • I never read the Atkins diet but I can tell you that nothing is better than just learning to eat right from the very beginning... Today, most fad diets don't work because you don't learn about the foods you are eating... I would say near more than 75% of the foods Americans eat is just all wrong, how they eat it, and even the when... People eat on the go which is wrong, they don't drink enough fluids when they eat which is needed for proper digestion, they eat on the run, they mix protiens and carbs which is actually not the best thing to do as two different enzymes are needed to break each down and they cancel each other out and most people gulp their food and don't chew it enough as well as eat way too much... Then you talk about the food quality, it's just crap these days with overprocessed foods, chemicals, artificial flavors, and preservatives... Usually slightly too much salt, waaaay too much sugar and way too much of the wrong fats (yes, there is good fats)... But why? Cause it tastes good... So industries give what people desire and they design the foods to your liking and it's constantly getting worse... It's like pringles and once you pop you can't stop... The foods today are just extremely bad and getting closer to the same level as street drugs... Foods are engineered to be addicting from advertising to the color and flavor of the very ingedients... The best book I can say to check out on this is probably the new one that got released by David Kessler MD... This book does not try to sell you anything and it talks about the dangers of foods and even tells you how to learn not to overeat... http://www.amazon.com/End-Overeating-Insatiable-American-Appetite/dp/1605297852 I'm not trying to sell this book, it's just probably the only one out there that talks about the truth since the day of the release of Supersize me documentary (but this documentary only talked about the hazards of fast food not how to fix it)
  • I lost 25lbs about 6 years ago by cutting out sugar, white flour, white rice, and most bread. I have kept it off, even when I take a break from regular walking/biking. Just protein and veggies works great for me. Just remember the exercise and use common sense! Good Luck.
  • Eat fresh food ....no preservatives or hormones No boxes or cans...frozen, is ok. eat 6 meals a day...smaller means throughout the day regulate how much....fruits are a major part of your meal. Stay away from Pork...and hamburger...and bacon eat chicken breast, and buffalo... ...drink only water and green tea. run everyday....or walk, or jog... Meditate during the day, at least an hour... write in a diary...your thoughts, your goals, and things about you..... Doing this will make you loose weight....and more. fast.
