It's unusual, but not strange. Some people don't want children or can't have them.

No, not at all. I know many middle aged couples, that are married who don't have kids. Both and either by choice, or not by choice. Some people just don't want kids, and some just can't have them. It's getting more and more the norm as women are realizing they have choices in life and their main goal ISN'T to be a baby making machine.

My younger sister is like that..it's a choice they made and are very happy with the way things are. If they want to be around kids they visit mine or my older sisters kids. I applaud them for not having kids just because it's the norm.

Not unusual. Population growth rate is higher in Asian countries and lower in English speaking countries: http://www.photius.com/wfb1999/rankings/population_growth_0.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_growth_rate
