At what age would you start referring to a female as a "woman" rather than a "girl"?

When they turn 10, probably. I'd most likely call them both at all ages.

Upto the age of 18, a female is called girl. A female between the ages 19 and 40 is called a lady. A female above the age of 40 is called a woman. Research shows that female fertility drops from near-normal rates at age 35 to nearly zero at age 43. http://www.webmd.com/content/pages/11/1819_51315.htm It is during this transition period, a lady becomes a woman. Females after the age of 40 show a more mature mind than youngsters.
