Wow that sounds great - it's not actually for me (which is such a pity, but I'm too poor to afford tickets), but for my parents who want to tour the States. Sounds like a really great place :)

too bad! that's kind of odd that they picked eugene and not portland, i think. eugene is my second favorite city in this state. after that, i'll have to either go with one of the coastal towns or bend. bend is a trip cuz it has a desert-step climate! weird after living in a rainforest.

They're a bit 'big city-phobic', so they're trying to go to the smaller places (or something - I only get half of the information when I talk to Mum). Bend sounds really neat as well. Thanks for your advice :)

My definition of small college town might be a little different, but I think Eugene is a large city that just happens to have a university. Eugene is on the I-5 corridor, and has lots of major shipping and tourism passing through it. The city has more going for it than the college. I live in Corvallis, and this city becomes a ghost town during the summer, when all the students leave. Just saying.
You're definitely right about the counter-culture in Eugene. Those hippies run that town.

I can see what you are saying, but I don't think it'd be all that different from Corvallis if it didn't happen to be located where it is (by I-5). I haven't quite figured out why there are so many damn hippies there, but that's why I put in the bit about the counter culture. I doubt that is the case in Corvallis. BTW, I'd like to thank the Beaver fans for not trying to fight me when I came to cheer against them in their own stadium, in the Beaver fans section! I was impressed.

Yeah, we say we're going to kill all the duck fans, but we don't really follow through. A few dirty words at Civil War time is about it.
