You dont want to get bored before you get to the end of the question, same with the answer, so I'll shut up now :-) Yep.

I don't think their is a true answer to this question. Sometimes one sentence is all you need others I need a paragraph.

I have to agree with your question because most people will tend to answer a question that doesn't make them read too much. The question must be one sentence but I think that a clarifying sentence is acceptable in order to guarantee that the question isn't answered wrongly. Good questions eliminate fluff words that do not add any meaning to the question such as "in my opinion" or "I like this kind of X" What's your favorite X? This detracts from the subjectivity that enables a question to be a good question.
-
Not necessarily. The "best" questions are those that express the questioner's thoughts to the readers in a clear and concise manner. Sometimes that calls for one sentence, sometimes, two.

Whatever it takes to get the point across. Not too long, but it's nice to know what the asker is asking.

Usually people are drawn towards a shorter question. If i see a question that goes into the third line I might read it but usually it is poorly worded anyways.
