When a man has an orgasm muscles push semen out of the prostate and up through the urethra (the tube running down the length of the penis.) Although ejaculation causes a majority of the semen to exit the tip of the penis the urethra often still contains semen when the orgasmic contractions stop. This is why many men squeeze their penis- to push the rest of the semen out of their urethra. If they don't most of it will leak out as the erection fades and make a mess on their leg. Sometimes it can even remain in the penis and cause a strange sensation and "bad aim" if they urinate shortly after sex.
