  • Nope. :) You are shipped to your Advanced Individual Training (AIT) post immediately after graduating Basic. At AIT, you will spend up to a month waiting for your AIT class to fill all its seats before starting training. During that time, you are on casual status, meaning you are available for any dirty job that pops up, like KP, washing out trashcans, picking up garbage, or being staff duty runner.
  • It depends. I got a week between basic and my 32 week specialty school. But no one covered my costs to go home, only the transportation between the basic training post and my specialty school.
