Like most numbers it has two square roots: (√2+i√2)/2 and (-√2-i√2)/2 You can check by multiplying and collecting terms.

I think xprofessor's answer is correct, but that answer is full of question marks on my browser. Here's my version: +/- (1+i)/sqrt(2) Proof: (1+i)^2 = 1^2 + 2*1*i + i^2 = 2*i sqrt(2)^2 = 2 So ((1+i)/sqrt(2))^2 = 2*i/2 = i
