Plenty of women DO. In fact, lots and lots of women do, mainly because they are under the assumption that they won't ovulate because they are breastfeeding. That simply isn't true. You CAN ovulate without having a period, so it's very misleading. I know tons of women who got pregnant while breastfeeding.

A lot of women can, but Breastfeeding does, for many women, delay ovulation. If you google breastfeeding fertile you should get lots of answers.

I got pregnant while breast feeding my 15 months old but 2 months prior my cycle came back. I've never heard of anyone getting pregnant before their cycle returned. Ive known women who breastfed and did not start menstruating for a year and others who did after 6 months it is different for everyone.

If you are exclusively breastfeeding, meaning not supplementing with formula or other foods, then it is unlikely that your period will return. This can be just as effective as birth control for up to about 6 months. Some women do get pregnant while nursing because there is never a 100% effectiveness aside from abstinence. After 6 months, your body begins to receive the message that it no longer needs to devote all of its energy to a new baby and your cycle may return. With my first 2 children, my period returned within a few months. With my last 2, I did not get a period for the complete duration of breastfeeding, which was more than 2 years. It is nature's way of keeping mother healthy and strong while caring for a baby. Sometimes nature goofs and you end up with babies 11 months apart!

This is FALSE. You absolutely can get pregnant while you are nursing. It might be a little hard if you are actually holding the baby, but the idea that a nursing woman can not conceive is not, repeat not, true.
