Yes. Significantly. Don't get me wrong - modern medicine is great for people that are robbed, raped, attacked for no reason, involved in collisions, etc. However, it can be stupid. People who have brought along their own demise are saved by miracles in modern medicine only to be back in the ER the next week. Example? Gang punks. "Yo I'm so tough yo! *later* save me doc! *much later* I'm back yo u didn't do NUTTIN to hurt me now I kill you!"
You can see where I get my opinions...
If natural selection prevailed I think it would give the gene pool a much needed cleansing. I guess that's Darwin coming through again...
On the contrary, it strengthens the gene pool by keeping non-viable mutations present in the gene pool thus creating a gene pool with greater diversity and more options to draw on when rapid adaption becomes necessary.
If homosapiens were indeed "homo"sapiens, is that why they went extinct?
