We've got about 30 newts in our pond which is excellent.are they protected in england?

I've been reliably told that the vast majority are infact protected. Though this is by me asking an agricultural scientist, not my own opinion.

I'm under the impression that Great Crested Newts are protected in England, as they are an endangered species.

yes the grey crested newt is quite rare in these parts
