  • Most of the time, the coil wouldn't blow on power up just because the target is present. If the target is present at power up, the load on the coil at power up is the same as the load it was designed for. Coils blow when they are defective or when the load exceeds spec. Since we're on the subject, coils don't actually blow. It's the circuits driving them that blow.
