  • Without a doubt, as a whole we certainly have. We are bombarded daily with ads and media that tell us in order to "be" something, we have to have their product. It is how many of people attain their sense of value, their feeling of worth. Buy today, or face the consequences!!! We no longer worry about our fellow man, or the consequences of our actions on the world, or what might happen 5 or 10 years down the road, most people simply live for today and do not worry about themselves or others in the world tommorrow.
  • As individuals in our current society we have become more selfish to survive our ever more competitive environment but I don't think we are more narcissistic. As a society as a whole? I think so. We think America is God's gift to Earth. We think America's 'personality' (ie culture) should be admired and emulated around the world. And we never REALLY make mistakes...ever.
  • Maybe, but we have become more ignorant of science as our society has become more technical and that's not good. Selfish, yes, spoiled, but narcissistic, I think more people are now but not as a society, not yet, but we are on our way if we don't change. I hope something good has come out of these bad times. Maybe people will realize how much they DON'T need and what they really do need. When you only think about yourself and what you want you will destroy our society if everybody thinks that way. We have always been shallow and trendy as a society but there were enough kind souls to have some balance, I don't see that balance anymore.
