You can go swimming with a tampon, you can't successfully do this with a pad unless you want to mess everywhere up. They're good for other sports too where you're moving about and a pad might dislodge and you'd get blood on your clothes; tampons also help keep your regular clothes blood free. It sounds gross, but blood can spread around a bit if you wear a pad. However, sometimes (particularly if you don't put them in properly) tampons can be uncomfortable, as opposed to pads which aren't really (unless they chafe). Tampons also present a small risk of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome)...which can be fatal but is VERY RARE! This is more of an issue if you forget to change your tampon regularly, otherwise you should be fine.

I don't like anything bulky bwetween my legs as I move. I don't want a pad when I ride a horse or bike. I don't like the leaking that can occur with a pad because they do move around. I don't like the way pads look when you are wearing pants or a swimsuit. I don't like seeing th epad when I change them and having to wrap them up to dispose of them. Too much hassle all around. The day I switched when I was 16 was a day I'll never regret.

Just personal preference, that's all.

I hate both. I love menstrual sponges.

well i see it as some women have better absorbency with tampons than pads. i prefer tampons they work better...except for when you sleep...then you have to keep your legs closed to keep from bleeding everywhere
