I also heard from a specialist that they can get as big as the tank they're in. I made the mistake of just getting a bigger tank every time my turtles seemed to need more space and came out with a two pound red-eared slider. Now that I've stopped getting a bigger tank, he's stopped growing.

Red ear sliders can get as big up to 20 inches in length. Mine reached up to 10 and stopped. The females however can get much larger, if in a good environment.

My is the size of my palm and it might still keep growing. As for my brother's it grew just a itty bitty.lol. I'm older and get the turtle the grows bigger and faster. sooooo ironic.

umm im a beginer in owning a red ear slider turtle and he has moss or seaweed looking growning on his shell do i need to worry about that and take him to a vet or not to worry about it? I need to know so i can get him checked out!!! Thank You Kaykay

Females get bigger than males, and can have a 12 inch carapace. Males tend to be a bit smaller.
