Although we may be living in an enlightened age, I fear that humans are not enlightened as a species. We are talking about an evolutionary process. Looking back at recent (relatively speaking) history we find that equality of all men is a rather new idea. 100 years ago equality was not really equal. Back when the US constitution was drawn up in 1787 (only 220 years ago) the concept that "all men are created equal" didn't actually mean all men, it meant white landowners - no women, no colored folk, no renters. It isn't until the 1960's (170-80 years after the constitution was written) that true equality was reached for. Its a slow process. Its one thing to declare equality, its far different to get people to accept that. We have about another 500 years before bigotry ends.. at the rate things are going. We shouldn't even count this in years instead we need to look at generations, so in about 20 more generations.

It exist because there are people of both shades of skin teaching there children to think in a racist fashion. In fact I personally do not believe in race. There should be no such word exept in terms of running or drag racing. Logically we are sophisticated adaptations to the specific environments that we dispersed to many years ago. If we were different we wouldn't be able to reproduce with one another. Stop the bullshit!
