  • Check out Ogg Vorbis. It's open source too, which means it is more compatible then AAC or other formats.
  • ah, it's that kind of attitude that kills me. i think mp3 is your best bet though. you can make it so low quality and such a small file size it won't hardly be audible.
  • I would use mp3 because it is compatible with everything also you can also make it mono if you are not worried about quality or stereo like a podcast.
  • Sony use a compression system called ATRAC, and in the past couple of years have produced ATRACplus, which claim to have the same quality as an mp3 file but half the file size. The one problem with this is that it tends to be only SONY players which can play them. Plus, their Connect player software isn't the best in the world, which is why most of us SONY users use thier SonicStage software instead.
