  • That flattery can convince you of something that is not true, and pride can lead you not to admit you are wrong, even when evidence proves otherwise. The child at the end shows innocence and truth always win.
  • For me, it can be used as a metaphor when something or someone is accepted or considered good or beautiful, just because you're SUPPOSED to think that way. Maybe another way to put it would be the "herd mentality" when everyone follows and agree with other people's advice or opinion just because the people expressing those are considered experts. (Like the tailor in the Emperor's story)

  • Like Singwell said, flattery can convince you of lies, but also political correctness often helps maintain them. Tis often when we think outside of the box do we have clarity.
