  • Most of the "formally trained" shooters release it above their forehead. Releasing elsewhere tends to be an exception. I release in front of my face most of the time, mainly because my motion starts lower than most (ball held in front of the belly instead of the chin). I find this more comfortable, more reliable, etc... it looks more like Shawn Marion than anything else. I think if you're young it's good to get instruction from a coach (or books/videos if you don't have one), and try to stick with the mainstream methods. If you put in enough practice with that, and it's not working for you, then adopting your own variation may make sense. But you should try to do it the "right way" before becoming an oddball like me! :-)
  • over the head, just like Larry Bird the greatest shooter in the history of the game
  • Id say Steve Nash and JJ Reddick shoot the ball correctly. Neither of them has the ball on their forehead, in front of their face, or over their head. But you wouldnt want to shoot like them now would you?
  • IT SHOULD BE OVER BY UR EAR SOME SO U CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE BASKET AND WHERE U ARE SHOOTING.
