  • Those numbers on those signs are not suggestions. They are the LAW. That means it is a crime to go over it. They are everywhere. You can't miss them. And the 99 on that sign isn't a speed limit, it's a road number.
  • Is asking stupid questions a crime?
  • Yes it is. There are degrees of crimes, but it is still a crime.
  • You have to ask yourself this question...... At what speed do you believe you have no control over your vehicle, that you are just aiming it and not driving it? 80, 90, 100 plus miles per hour? Speeding in itself, is not a crime. it becomes a crime if the vehicle hits another person or vehicle, especially if a hit and run is involved or a death. then, it becomes a criminal offense. In Tennessee, speeding 10 mph over the posted speed limit is, by law, reckless driving.
  • It could be if it was excessive through a school zone (for example). It largely depends upon jurisdiction, but speeding doesn't normally constitute a crime.
  • Actually speeding is not considered a crime. Not legally anyway. Crimes are committed against either person or property. Speeding is a traffic violation not a criminal offense.
  • Actually, just speeding is not a crime. its a traffic violation. It becomes a crime when someone is injured or killed or speed involves property damage and leaving the scene.
