I don't (or shouldn't) eat most of those foods as it is, given my lactose allergy.
But, if I could normally consume them and then became pregnant, upon further research of my own combined with a consultation with my OB/GYN, yes, I would consider cutting those items out of my diet. If they are to be avoided for specific reasons that could harm my unborn child, I would not hesitate to stop consuming them.
I would and did. I know the odds of having problems from them are low, but unless you know where the food has been, it's really better to be safe than sorry.
But I also cut out alcohol and caffeine entirely, and took vitamins and calcium and did everything I could to keep both me and the baby as healthy as possible.
I didn't drink alcohol and I decaffinated while I was pregnant, so I don't see why I wouldn't stay away from food that could be dangerous.
Again, I'm sure I would consult my OB/GYN and do research and if it seemed valid, I would go a few months without.
i don't really eat many of those foods in general.. so i probably wouldn't have a problem staying away from them... but the ice-cream....
