What kind of flowers can I plant to attract butterflies? I'd love to have a butterfly garden.

They are attracted to red, and bright pinks. Hybiscus (spelling?) I know are great to attract them, and bees too so be careful! They also attract humming birds.

To attract butterflies to your garden you should plant flowers along a fence, where they will be protected from strong gusts of wind. You should also give them a few shallow baths of water. As far as flower, anything bright will do, but here are a few of their favorites: Zinnia, Butterfly Bush, Cosmos, Buddleia, Verbena, Morning Glory, Wisteria, Hollyhock, and Columbine. Many plants like Butterfly Bush will attract and feed butterflies, but there are better options. What you really need is plants that the caterpillars will eat and that will feed the butterflies. Monarch butterfly caterpillars eat milkweed and I think milkweed only. If you want to help butterflies live you need to plant native plants and flowers.
