  • 500 means the same number of wins and losses, so 2 games under 500 would mean they have two more losses than wins.
  • I've always been seriously annoyed with sportscasters on this one. If a team had 50 wins and 40 losses, a typical broadcaster would say that they are 10 games over .500, but this is completely untrue. A 50-40 team has played 90 games, and a .500 record would be 45-45. this would put them 5 games over .500, not 10.
  • It means they have lost 2 more games than they have won. In other words, it means if the team won one more game their record would be even.
