I arrested an 80 year old man for a violation of an Order of Protection. laughed out of the precinct by fellow officers. any suggestions?

An 80 year old can still pull a trigger or swing a knife can't he? Your superior should reprimand the officers who make you a laughingstock, that was wrong.

Tell them to go to you know where. An 80 year old man is just as capable of picking up a gun and killing someone as anyone else.

I'd probably tell the smart alecs to jump in the lake. An 80 year old can pick up a weapon and kill someone just like a 20 year old. You only did your job.
