I'll agree with the love part, but a little update courtesy of the RX Bandits: We've had enough of the politicians We've had enough yeah Of these politician's wars All we need right now is love We've had enough of these military scoreboards What we need right now is love, come on We've had enough of these politician's wars All we need right now is love We've had enough of these military scoreboards All we need right now is love We've had enough of these politician's wars All we need right now is love We've had enough of these military scoreboards All we need right now is love Turn it up The future is held in the hands Who right the textbooks Ignorance is bred when falsified thinking is taught To the youth instead of Past mistakes and mind elevation, Like the graves that manifest destiny has created So we can build our Capitalist consumer based economy, To build, market, And sell commodities we don't need But we are trained to believe like celebrity imaging Well I'm here to take my feelings back and I hope That you will be with me I can't wait for that day When I hear us all screaming. Ahhhhhhhhh, I can't wait for that day When I hear us all singing together, Ooooohhhhhh I can't wait for that day When I hear us all screaming. Ahhhhhhhhh I can't wait for that day When I hear us all singing together, Ahhh, I can't wait for the day When I hear us all screaming, HERE COMES THE REVOLUTION. When every race color And creed of militant human beings stand up With fists together for substance and true meaning Because right now we got our feet stuck in cement We're too caught up in A material status quo punishment And one thing is for sure And that's the sun will always set, Darling you can bet our moon is quite the opposite So baby take a axe to your makeup kit Set ablaze the billboards and their advertisements Love with all your hearts and never forget How good it feels to be alive And strive for your desire Just cause you can't see Your cage doesn't mean that you are free When there are laws against nature But its ok for you to be Addicted to over the counter prescriptions And magazines dictate all our human relations I'm not buying, no I'm not giving in To a culture that objectifies all of our women I'm not buying, no I'm not consuming The apathetic dribble on the news media's chin I'm not buying, no I'm not giving in The lies that are sold through textbooks to children I'm not buying, no I'm not consuming Cause the positive will Always overcome the negative right And we stay inside, its right outside, We stand in line We all enjoy the fences to keep it at bay But I'm not giving in

Still love. Can't have enough.

empathy & the world needs solidarity.

I think we need to find the love before we start making other requests, first.

I think the world needs a break....look at what man has done to it just in the last 100 years...I am sure if the world could talk thats what it would want is a vacation from us..;)

For governments to think outside the box. Like how there was an elecrtic car invented a few years ago and everyone was all exited about it, but we are still using petrol.

Well... It's a nice sentiment ("the world needs love"), and there's a perspective from which it's clear that's true; I guess I don't get very excited about the song or idea, though. There are a lot of ideas about love and about the world which swirl around when this song plays: that the world is in pain and needs to be healed, that love is the answer to all pain, that if people would just give up their hatred, greed, and differences we'd all get along and the world would become a Utopia, etc. These ideas are conditioned / shared beliefs: they're widely believed and rarely challenged. They SEEM to make sense, and often that's good enough for us. But the problem with unchallenged beliefs is that they put us straight to sleep: the belief that we understand something allows us to turn off our sensors and radar -- we stop paying attention, stop observing, and stop discovering. We disengage from the question and turn off the study lamp once we think we know "The Answer". So now we have this Answer: "what the world needs is love"... a fixed idea which lives like a perfect little toy village in our minds: cherished as an unreachable ideal. The net effect of holding such a belief is that one will either spin their wheels madly trying to make it come true, give up in hopelessness believing it's impossible, or pretend that it IS coming true and that we're doing our part. So if love isn't the answer, what is? When that is asked, the opinion mill starts to churn... we can almost hear the sea of noise as the congress of Answerers cranks up its vocal chords to compete with each other for dominance: "the world needs God!"... "the world needs all the politicians to be honest!"... "the world needs equitable distribution of income!"... "the world needs my mother to run the show!"... <sigh> What's a confused person to do? What we do mostly is turn away from the noise and go off to have a beer, convinced that the problem is insoluble and we don't make any difference anyway. Why is this problem so hard to sort out? Why does The REAL Answer seem so elusive, and the answers we have so limp and cliche? To address that, we have to go much more deeply into the question than is normally done. The question is "what does the world need now?". That's what we're trying to answer here. So the first thing that comes to mind when I ask that question of myself is "what do you mean by 'the world'?". In particular, it seems we've taken "the world" and made it into some external object "out there" -- we talk about "going out into the world" as if we were somehow not already "inside" the world and had to pass through some barrier to enter the world. But of course this is nonsense, there's no separation between me and "the world"... there's no way for me to NOT be in the world already. The world isn't something separate from me which is located "externally". This is another naive, shared belief which deserves challenge. The opposite is ALSO false, though -- it's not true that I'm merely "a part of the world"... a small cog in a big machine. From my own perspective, it's clear that I'm also the AUTHOR of "the world" in an important way: my own interpretation of who I am and what the world is is very much within my own domain of responsibility, and that interpretation governs how I experience life and what I do with my time and energy. So now we can perhaps glimpse a hint of a different kind of "world" for the question: "what does the world need now?" has a different flavor when I recognize that "myself" and "the world" are deeply intertwined and are within my own realm of responsibility. In short, the question becomes something personal, something I might be able to act on. The next part of the question that catches my eye is the word "now". It's worth noting that we think of utopian dreams as being something that might happen out in the future somewhere (100 years? 1000 years?), but never NOW. If the world is going to be improved though, all actions have to take place NOW, simply because we have no access to anything we call "the future"... the only place action can occur is NOW. So if this business about "now" is added back into the mix, the question gets yet another flavor it didn't have before: "what does the world need now?" has shifted to include the notion that I and the world are intertwined and I'm responsible, and that fulfilling the need is something which calls for immediate action by me, here-and-now. And that leads right into the obvious next question: "so what should I do about that, now?"... what action would be correlated to the I-and-the-World's needs? Now, suddenly, I have a sense of being a little clear-headed: it's me and my world, the time is now, and all I have to do is look around to see what's needed. Well, one thing that's needed is to finish this incredibly long answer! Another thing that's needed is to finish my coffee. So that handles what the world needs NOW. In about 20 minutes, the world is going to need me to wash the dishes, and later on today its going to need me to go meet up with my 12-year-old CASA child and take him to the park so we can talk about why he got suspended from school this week. Later on this evening, the world will need me to go to sleep. In other words, what the world needs NOW is for ME to act on whatever is the next thing that appears appropriate toward satisfying the needs of the world, which is really an interpretation of reality within my own domain of responsibility. It's my world, and my actions, and my responsibility. Pretty simple really. Satisfying the needs of the world INCLUDES satisfying my own needs, of course... it's not like I'm something separate from the world. So the only way to screw this up is to imagine that the world is "out there" separate from me, and focus solely on satisfying MY needs, as if I didn't have any responsibility for "the world". So it's not very catchy, and doesn't rhyme, but the title of the new (revised) song could be "What the world needs now is for me to act out of the awareness that I and the world are inseparable". I'll leave it to Burt Bacharach to clean up that mess.

The people of the world need more compassion, tolerance, empathy, manners, ethics, and patience. The 'world' needs to be cared for & respected... Some parts of the world need a good cleaning up, other parts need to be left alone -let nature exist, we're killing every inch of it.
