Should people such as Samuel Colt and Mikhail Kalashnikov be remembered as inspired men or as criminals?

Inspired men, a gun can't kill anyone, its the person holding it that does that.

Like Mr. Black and Mr. Decker these men invented a tool. To even consider them as criminal is where the real injustice begins. When a child hits another child with a stick, do we blame the piece of wood? Do we put restrictions on the trees for producing the weapon? Should we pass laws prohibiting fallen branches? Who takes responsibility for the murder and violence that the stone has brought upon us? Ban all rocks that are hard enough to crack skulls? Did anyone ever blame the blacksmith for the sword that killed a loved one? Objects are not at fault. Greed, Ignorance, and Fear are what makes that finger so itchy to pull the trigger. We can not allow our emotions and ego's to take away Rights that We the People have been given. These freedoms are ours for a reason, The men who authored them had an understanding of their importance, that we simply don't have, and with luck never will.
