  • the gas companies. Because those record prices are also resulting in record PROFITS. Which means the gas companies could lower the price and still make large profits, as opposed to continually hiking the price in order to make the largest profits (meaning what they have left after paying all operating costs)in the history of the US.
  • The market economy. Supply and Demand. If you "blame" anyone, it is OPEC for not pumping more oil per day. That would drive the price down a little.
  • The price of crude oil and the supply and demand in the global market. I am sure that is influenced by OPEC.
