Inflation. It is natural for any currency to fall gently in value. Therefore it is natural for both costs and wages to rise, even if there are no productivity increases. The important question is whether postage is rising faster or slower than inflation.

They are the only business I know that is losing business so in order to compensate, they raise prices... don't most places lower prices to attract more customers? "We aren't selling enough... maybe we cost too much... lets fix that... raise our prices..."

Inflation. The worls is getting more and more expensiv,e so it's natural for everything to follow suit. The cost of living goes up, salaries go up, prices for materials go up, gas for deliveries, etc. So when you are paying MORE, you need to ask for more. It's just the way the world works.
