There are issues with modified foods if they are not proven safe before large scale planting. They should not be banned, however, because they offer incredible promise for the future.

I don't think they should be approved by the FDA until they have been properly tested (which they have not)... I think there have been enough questions raised by scientists about their safety to warrant more testing and research... Until that has occured and they have been proven safe I think they should not be allowed on the market.
