No, of course not. And I wouldn't care whether it was e-mailed or mailed. This would be a strange thing to get offended about. I don't think the by-hand thing has much importance except in the case of formal etiquette situations. I'm sure the relationship between you and your daughter is not constrained by formality.

No, I think it would have been considered bad mannered at one time but I am sure parents are just pleased to hear from their children whatever format the communication takes.
