  • From a 1.5?! "1.21 jiggawats?!" (sorry, couldnt resist a bad back to the future quote) If youre lucky enough to find an LED that works with only 1.5 volts, youd still have to struggle with creating a "flashy circuit" (usually, but not limited to a 555 timer) that can run under 1.5v as well. One option you do have is creating a DC-DC booster... basicly a high frequency ocillator coupled with a step up transformer (youd most likely have to hand wind it) and a rectifier circuit to create the 5v needed to operate your timer. Or you can look online to find LED's that have flash circuits built in... But to my knowledge they all require a min of 3v. Good luck duder.
  • As was said in the other answer, you will need something to up-convert the voltage and also gate the LED on and off to flash. Most will work via a 'Voltage Doubler' or Charge Pump type approach. There are many ICs as well as circuit using individual parts like transistors which which are designed for doing just this. Doing a Google search for 'LED flashing 1.5v' brings up a LOT of examples if you are the solder and wire type of guy.
