How hard is it to find a job that pays a good deal above minimum wage in the USA, for a unexperienced worker with a high school diploma who is willing to do the worst job ever? What could it be, what part of the USA would you recommend?

  • i would look here: http://www.bls.gov for general information
and http://stats.bls.gov/oes/1998/oessrcma.htm this website lets you pick a state and city and then look at the average income for lots of different types of jobs.. it's a little outdated but maybe still helpful.

You could always try getting a job working onboard Amtrak trains. I got a job with them when I turned 21, been here for over four years now and I'm making $20 an hour, plus benefits and the tips I make while working on the train...I sell food and drinks in the cafe car. It was only supposed to be a "summer" job, but I looked at all the people I knew who were graduating college and couldn't find jobs. Some have gone two years now without one, so I said "f" it and stayed with the trains. For now, at any rate.

Here in California, the fast-food burger chain In-N-Out Burger pays $9.25 - $9.50 to start.

It's not intellectual work, but it beats working at McBurgerBoxJr. for $5.75.

    The military.
They train you and give you free health care.
Plus now you get free college when you get out.
