If you do not like and AB'ers answer, why is negging them better than just not giving points?

That's why the have the minus choice as well as the plus. But you don't HAVE to use either.

Well if you think it's a bad answer, than they need to learn to think a little more. But if it just doesnt suit you then it's really not fair to neg them.

You have a lot of different people with different ideas -- I only do that if it is a direct insult or a sick answer

I don't think it is useful to down-rate an answer just because you do not like it. If it does not answer the question, is wrong or offensive then down-rate if you want to. I personally rarely down-rate, but that is just me.
