I like www.purevolume.com, but not every artist on there allows their songs to be downloaded, and you're not going to find the old stuff. Seriously, if I can't find it on purevolume or music.myspace.com, I google it--song title and artist with terms like "free," "mp3," "download," and all of that.

try to download lime wire i used it once and i got a song off of it but thats the only time i used it i normaly use itunes, my one friends uses limewire all the time and doesn't seem to have problems with it,as for websites i have never used these sites so i'm not sure but here are some i found:

Try rapidshare, you're a lot less likely to get nailed by the riaa for copyright. P2P use your ip address, making it easy to get nailed.

If u live in us then y not try qtrax a free and legal p2p.Comes with drm protection but a number of software are available such as sound taxi and tunebite which can remove it. Note:You may have to pay for this software but a number of torrent sites offer these for free.
