It just takes practice, gradually increasing your flexibility. It is best to do a good warm up, make sure the muscles are loose and relaxed, warm and flexible. Gradually stretch the muscles until slight pain is felt, then hold that position for about ten seconds. repeat this a couple times for each muscle group. Do not bounce or use dynamic stretches as this can lead to overstretching the muscle and tearing it. A very fast way to increase flexibility is to use resistance. With a partner stretch the muscle to your comfort range and have the partner firmly hold it there. Push against the partner as hard as you can for five seconds, then relax the muscle and allow it to stretch a little further than before. With each contraction you may get up to a few extra inches. In strength training be sure to exercise muscles through the full range of motion. This will not only help in flexibility, but will also mean greater gains in strength and speed, as the muscles are worked more completely and increase in length of contraction.
