I dont personally think in a bias way like that, but if I meet guy that has slept with loads of people I do tend to regard them in a bad way rather than regarding a women like that in a bad way because those kind of guys I find are self centred, users and do not consider the feelings of other people. I would think they would sleep with a girl no matter what even if the girl was married, the the girl was vulnerable, it meant hurting other people feelings or even left the girl pregnant. Therefore personally when i see a guy boasting about his trophies i think they are immature, self centred, have emotional problems and a bastard. Broadly speaking, yes, and I think that it is very obvious such a double standard exists. I also think it sucks. However, I do think this is lessening - VERY gradually, generation by generation. Younger people (are they Generation Y?) are much less affected by this double standard, and GenX was much less so than the previous generation. I do not see "pimp" as a positive connotation myself. And I believe it has more to do with genetics than sexism. We are thought that way since women can only have a child every 9 months, if they are not selective who they breed with, then what kind of person are they? Though that vaguely is imminent in most of today's society, we have such a feeling engrained in our thought processes. Historical precedent more than anything I think. In the past there were major consequences for a woman who had sex outside of marriage - unwanted pregnancy being the main one. In the past women were largely unable to earn their own money (other than as prostitutes) access to money was through the men in their lives (father, then husband) having sex outside of marriage would jepodise this financial support - if a woman got pregnant and had no man to provide for the child, or was abandoned by a husband - her main option would be to turn to prostitution. Because of these dangers, which never affected men in quite the same way it was sensible to create a sense of "badness" around girls who slept around. Bad things happened to them - they couldn't be happy. So nice girls didn't do that. These days with contraception and women's liberation the view is a bit redundant - but many people hold onto ideas that have been drilled into them based on situations and systems that are now obsolete.

I think that different people have different views on the appropriateness of anyone (male or female) having multiple partners. While I agree it is common to witness the male stud/female slut differential, it is not hard to find someone who would condemn the male or to find someone who would praise the female. However, the question is right in that at least is it more common that other stances. Perhaps this derives from views in that are cultivated in the home... and they would be very natural views. Boys tend to think very highly of their mothers. In spite of any reality in the situation, a boy will commonly think of his mother as a virtuous, chaste, and demure individual. When the boy starts to sow his oats, he does things with girls that (he thinks) his mother would never have done. Therefore he loses respect for the sexuality of the woman. If a boy is looking for a serious relationship, he a girl that he can take home and show off... someone might argue that he tries to show his father that he can obtain a mate as desirable as his moral and chaste mother. First, sleeping around is easier for women. Regardless of how you feel about promiscuity, we can all agree that a guy who manages to rack up a lot of sexual partners has to have some skills. It’s challenging for men to rack up partners, even for men with low standards. It requires a certain amount of social intelligence, interpersonal skills, persistence, thick skin, and plain old dumb luck. For women to rack up a lot of partners, however, it pretty much only requires a vagina and a pulse. So a man whoring it up and a woman whoring it up are hardly the same thing because for a woman to get a lot of partners is absolutely no challenge, hence no one respects it. It’s just viewed as a lack of self-discipline when women indulge in lots of sex partners because they can get new ones whenever they want. When men get lots of sex partners, it’s respected more because getting lots of sex partners, for men, is a challenge. This is just human nature: people gain respect for those who accomplish challenging feats while they consider those who overindulge in easily obtained vices as weak or flawed. Second, women do more harm by sleeping around than men do. Say a man sleeps around with a bunch of different women. He is definitely doing harm to these women if he pretends to be monogamous while sleeping around with these multiple partners. He may cause them emotional pain by his promiscuity. He may cause unwanted pregnancy. He may spread venereal diseases. When women sleep around, however, they can cause not only these same ill effects but one additional crucial ill effect: the risk of unknown parentage. If one guy sleeps around with five women, each of whom is monogamous to him, and they all get pregnant, it’s a safe bet as to who the father is. If one woman sleeps around with five men and gets pregnant, it could be anybody’s baby. But from an evolutionary standpoint, it makes total sense. If the two primal drives of humans are to survive and to reproduce, nothing leads to maximum reproduction like one man sleeping with multiple women. If one women slept with many men, in a nine month period, she would still only get pregnant just once. Nine months of rampant promiscuity would give the same result as nine months of highly sexed monogamy: one pregnancy. Now if one man sleeps with many women, you can get many pregnancies. The more women he sleeps with, the more pregnancies. So from an evolutionary standpoint, there are concrete advantages to men sleeping around with multiple partners rather than women. These three reasons are probably why the longstanding tradition came about of men being rewarded for multiple partners while women get socially punished for similar promiscuity. ah that old chesnut. its in a mans dna to spread his seed as much as possible, its in a womans to look after the children. like it or not, thats the truth. im not sexist, i dont agree with men that do shag loads but i also dont agree with women putting of having kids till they're 50 etc.
