How can I determine visually if a travelers' check I received is counterfeit? Serious replies, only, please, and thanks.

I found this. I hope it helps. 1) Check for a watermark on the paper by holding it up to the light. If the watermark is there, turn the check over so it is back side up. 2) Rub a moist finger across the right denomination designation. The printing should not smudge or smear. 3) Then rub a moist finger across the left denomination designation. This printing should smudge or smear.
