I would like to write an article for a mens' general interest magazine in the UK. How would I go about it and how much could I expect to get paid?

Get hold of a copy of the Writers and Artists Yearbook.

Its full of handy hints and comprehensive directories of publishers (books, magazines, poetry etc).

Find the kind of company you would want to write for, ring them up and see if they take submissions, what layout they like and what the rates are.
