  • So it boils down to his word against your word? You have kept rent receipts right... Right? If not then you are up the creek. If you did then you might have a leg to stand on. However without a contract stating when rent will be raised and it all being "word" of mouth, most likely a ruling in his favor would be reached on a rent hike, all he has to do is claim that he told you x months ago that rent will rise x amount on such and such date. Trick is you have to prove he didn't tell you.
