Though I am not 100% sure about this particular song, much of Eric's early work was done on "Blackie". A strat that he pieced together himself. This guitar recently sold at auction for over $900,000. (see http://news.harmony-central.com/News/2004/Clapton-Auction-Results.html) A brief description about it by old Slowhand himself can be found here. http://doodlesite.com/crowdie/ec/blackie.htm

I'm betting it was a Gibson Les Paul. Blackie didn't get popular until after Delaney and Bonnie. http://twtd.bluemountains.net.au/cream/jeff/guitarist.htm Kabumi

I think he played both 'blackie' and a gibson

I seem to remember that he was playing the Gibson SG that he had painted in a psychedelic scene by Dutch artists "The Fool" during the Disraeli Gears period, so I looked it up on You Tube, and sure enough, it was the SG standard.I'm not sure what year it is, maybe a `61-`63?

I am not 100% sure on this but he was a prominent user of the Gibson SG at this period of his career.

I'm not sure what he used in the studio, but I have seen video from the time, in which he was playing a Gibson SG, which seemed odd to me, as he is the Strat Master.

I'm pretty sure he was using a Gibson SG,which was later coined Clapton's SG.
