Hands free banning seems a bit over-the-top. You can be just as distracted talking to your passengers.
-
Smart and ahead of its time; hopefully freeway ridden California will do the same.

I believe its a GREAT IDEA....i think more stated should invoke that law... Most people when talking on a phone dont use turn signals, or drive at a different pace, or just cant drive AT ALL...im not saying EVERY driver im just saying MOST...but i believe you should be able to use a phone in emergency situations.

it's about time.

I don't know, it seems like the ability to multi task would be a benefit eventually, so what if it's unsafe until we all get the hang of it. In the long run the species will benefit. I propose instead a law that requires doing something distracting while driving...like this post I just made from my blackberry while speeding down I-40!

Absolutely in favor of it. I hate cell phones, especially in the car. I don't own one.

I think it's great. Did you know the reflex time while on the phone is WORSE than when drunk? You should check out some of the stats that put it into reality. A car is a 1,000 lb + vehicle that can kill in an instant if you are not paying attention, which, being on a cell phone, hands free or not, can definitely do.

I am for it, I almost got hit by this stupid bitch on the cell phone she went thru a red light..
