debating with people online is like beating a dead horse

Debating with people online is like chasing a carrot on a stick.

Debating gets you nowhere. It's a team sport, a game, there will always be two sides. I do love a discussion with others, with people that will listen to each side and give and take in the conversation, remaining polite and civil, taking other people's feelings into consideration. I don't see the value in anger and frustration. Those are never positive, motivational or constructive. I like to move forward from a positive stance. Debsating goes nowhere, started nowhere other than pastime.

The chance of changing anyones idea in debate on line is about as frequent as snowdrops in the Sahara Desert. Though i still quite enjoy the chance of comment debate

Debating people on AB is like beating your thumb with a hammer over, and over, and over, etc. Especially if it has to do with George Bush or God.

Pretty much - although at least by walking into the wall over and over and over again you're at least getting a little exercise and burning some calories. :) Honestly - as bad as trying to debate anyone online is - talking to my coworker is worse. If you disagree with him about anything, he stares at you like you must be the stupidest person on the face of the earth. Even saying "We should end the conversation on this now because we will never agree" doesn't get him to go away. At least with comments you can always just not respond - and the person you were conversing with can't follow you back to your desk and continue his ranting.

I feel that way about once a week.
