  • Yes, if you have an internal network (wired or wireless) you can connect to another node on your own network. Without network ability, you could use a USB Key or floppy drive and carry a text file to the second computer, but that wouldn't be so much "instant" now would it.
  • Sure there is. It's called the Messenger Service. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messenger_service
  • You can also do a net send Go to the "Start" menu and click "Run" type cmd to bring up the command prompt then type net send [the name of the computer you are sending to] [whatever message you want to send] then hit enter. Example: net send computer1 Hi this is a test message [enter]
  • if you are using windows XP service pack 2 or 3, you cannot use this. it was disabled through service pack 2
